Andy Hill: “Promotion is our number one aim.”

Llanelli Town manager Andy Hill has only been at the helm since June of this summer but already there is a structure put in place that will help build the Reds over the coming years. The former Goytre United manager Andy Hill who scored 46 goals from 234 Welsh Premier League appearances was appointed as The Reds manager in June 2016.

Former manager Bob Jefferies departed to seek foreign pastures in America, where he will become a goalkeeping coach for American side North Shore United. Losing a manager of his experience considering how long he was at the club was a crushing blow but Hill has installed passion into the side with aims of bringing back happier times to the club. As Hill was announced as his successor he brought in Mark Dickeson as his right hand man whilst Andrew Mumford was announced as his first team coach.

With a marquee signing in Former Swansea City, Neath and Rhyl striker Lee Trundle it is no doubt that they are currently the talk of the town of the Welsh Football League. Anthony Finselbach is another name that is well known, the former Aberyswyth midfielder has played for a total of three sides in the Welsh Premier League and is a former Welsh U17 international.

Andy stated that despite an influx of signings that it was important that Llanelli keeps local players, which shows the balance in the side. Hill will be looking to build on Llanelli’s 7th placed finish last season.

Whilst signing players always gives a boost to a side, keeping key players is another thing Llanelli Town have done this summer. Jordan Follows was subject to interest from Welsh Premier League side Aberyswyth Town this summer but opted to stay with the Welsh League side.

That in itself is a massive boost so early on in the season.

“Promotion is our number one aim, Division One will allow us to gain academy status, with things being put into place to get the club back where it should be.”

Llanelli were last in the Welsh Premier League in 2013, before being wound up by the High Court in London by HM Revenue, with Hill’s ambitions for the club to return back there shows how promotion is key for Hills’ men this season and he will pull out all the stops to make promotion a reality. There last league title came in the step below as they won the Welsh League Division 3 as they were placed there upon their winding up order.

One of the key reasons Hill took the job in the summer was due to the pitch and facilities on offer to him, to implement his style of play he needed the right surface to play on. With gratitude shown towards the groundsman.

“The club has lost its way over the years and our aim is to get it back up there, hopefully with a few more profile signings the fans will stay with us.”
