Llanelli Town on cloud nine after emphatic win over Aber Bluebirds

Llanelli Town ran out clinical winners with a 9-0 victory at home to strugglers Abertillery Bluebirds, sending them top of the JD Cymru South for a night.

The home side hit four in the first half with goals coming from Josef Hopkins, Sam Johnson, Adam Robbins, and Ethan Cann.

The home side piled on the misery for the Bluebirds hitting five more in the second half. Cann getting his second and Substitute Calum Bateman got a goal to make it 6-0. Captain Hopkins got his brace on the 71st minute to make it 7-0.

Josh Allen got in on the goal-scoring as he got a brace with two late goals to make it 9-0 and end a horrible night for Abertillery.

The away side looked to start fast applying early pressure on the Reds defence. They failed to have a clear shot on goal though.

It was a quiet start but the home side broke the deadlock in the 27th minute. Josef Hopkins found space on the edge of the box, his strike deflected beyond the keeper.

Llanelli took full control late in the half as they added their second in the 43rd minute. Sam Johnson got his eighth goal of the season from a direct free kick from the edge of the area.

It was 3-0 two minutes into to first half added time. Adam Robbins heading home from a corner delivered in by forward David Lyons.

The home side all but ended the game with a fourth goal in the first half of added time. Youngster Ethan Cann picked up the ball in the box before slotting calmly past the keeper.

The away side going in with it all to do at halftime with their poor start to the season looking likely to continue.

But things only got worse for the away side. Cann got his second of the game with a curling effort from the edge of the area on the 54th minute.

The Reds made a couple of changes on the 58th minute with the game all but wrapped up. It was a near-instant impact from Calum Bateman who added a sixth with a close-range strike on the 66th minute.

It was 7-0 just seven minutes later as captain Hopkins got his second of the night with a close-range strike with players lining up to score.

The dominance continued as Josh Allen made it 8-0 on the 84th minute with a close-range strike. Substitute Miles John getting a hat-trick of assists off the bench.

The final action of the game saw Allen get his second with a strike from the edge of the area to make it 9-0 and end a miserable night for the away side.
