Newport City have today announced that they are to continue on running as a football club.

Just days after Newport City (formerly Llanwern AFC) wrote to the Welsh League and Football Association of Wales announcing that they were withdrawing from the league, the club have gone back on that decision after some consultation between individuals and playing staff. With Newport City being the only representative from Wales’ third biggest city, it is welcome news for both football in Newport and football in Gwent.

To keep the club running, the club are now on a recruitment mission, where they will look for contributors in numerous positions, with the need for a Secretary, Chairman and the need for potential sponsors.

“We encourage players still looking for clubs to get in touch and take this team from the brink to create something special and move the club forward to fufill its huge potential”.

The clubs first game of the season is at Division Three Champions Pontypridd Town on Friday 12th August at Ynysangharad Park.
