The 2016/2017 Welsh Premier League season is only two games in yet the Citizens face a very stern test. For the Citizens it is their chance to demonstrate they are capable of punching with the big teams once more. With Connah’s Quay having been tipped heavily to push TNS all the way this season, a victory from Bangor will certainly send a message of intent from the club.
Bangor fans will be hoping that this clash will show just how strong they have become since the new take over and investment earlier this summer. They will be hoping their new signings can make an impact and bring home a valuable three points.
The Citizens will be looking to make it two victories on the trot after beating Cefn Druids in the season opener last Friday 2-1. With the Nomads missing Ian Kearney from defense as well as the experienced defensive midfielder Harrison out with a suspension, and the shock goalless draw against Carmarthen, despite countless chances, weighing on their minds Bangor fans will be hoping this puts them on the front leg.
However this is also an important game for GAP Connah’s Quay as they must live up to the high expectation piled upon them during the preseason. And after a shock goalless draw against Carmarthen they have a lot to prove. They most definitely will not be a pushover team and the Citizens know that if they slip up the Nomads have the quality to capitalize and punish. Bangor fans will be aware of the importance of this game to Connah’s Quay to, and the quality of their team and new additions. However Connah’s Quay will also be aware of the quality signings Bangor have made to. This is set to be a clash of the Titans.
With this mind the game will be a must win for both teams, therefore both the Citizens and Connah’s Quay will be looking to give it their all. Also with both teams having both spent big this summer transfer window added pressure is on them to perform making Sunday’s clash a very exciting one to look forward to!
It will certainly be a stern test for Bangor as they aim to prove they are a team to be reckoned with this campaign. Although only the second game of the season, the confidence boost a win could provide here and the message it declares makes this fixture a very important one.
