Trundle joins Llanelli in shock move

Former Swansea City favourite Lee Trundle has signed for Llanelli Town in a shock move which sees the striker join up with the Welsh League side.

The 39 year-old who netted 91 goals over two spells with the club, was a fan favourite at the Vetch and the Liberty Stadium before departing the club for Bristol City.

He returned to the club on a loan deal in 2009, however never found the tremendous form he showcased at the Swans.

Trundle has played in the Welsh pyramid twice before, once with Rhyl as a youngster and then for two years between 2010-12 with the new extinct Neath. However, this is the first time the striker has plyed his trade in the Welsh Leagues.

Llanelli Town were one of the most formidable sides in the Welsh Premier League when Trundle played for Neath, however after going bust the club have reformed and have worked their way up the leagues. After winning Division 3, the Reds had a comfortable mid table finish last season in Division 2 and will be looking to kick on and achieve promotion this season to the first division as they seek a return to the top flight.

Trundle will no doubt add fire power to a strong Llanelli side who are rumoured to be losing their main striker Jordan Follows, with the forward attracting interest from various Premier League clubs such as Aberystwyth Town.
