Bangor City plan to go pro

Bangor City boss Andy Legg told Sgorio today that the club intend to go full time on a permanent basis next season.

Legg was only appointed this summer, replacing longstanding manager Neville Poweel at the helm. But, despite only being in charge for a short space of time, he has impressed and admitted before the 2-0 win over Bala Town that they have plans to go full time.

Legg said:

“With the owners, we do have plans to go full time on a permanent basis next year.”

Bangor have started impressively and fans will no doubt be excited at the prospect of them going full time, and possibly competing with the league’s only full time club, TNS.

However, they will have to take caution from the previous failures of full time clubs in the Welsh Premier League. Llanelli, Barry and Neath all became full time in the top flight of Wales, but all went bust in the near future.

However, with the right support and management team, Bangor could buck the trend and could be the first of many teams to become full time in the league.
