Cefn Druids have made two signings ahead of the Welsh Premier League deadline in goalkeeper Danny Lloyd and left midfielder Tommy Cooney.
Danny Lloyd has travelled around the globe with his football career, having played in Spain and Latvia. However, he has now signed for the Welsh Premier League side in order to place pressure on number one goalkeeper Michael Jones.
Manager Huw Griffiths said;
“Danny is a great lad. He comes to us recommended by Phil Priestley, who was one of my former ‘keepers.
“He’s been training with Southport and will offer pressure to Carrots (Michael Jones). He knows his position in the club and is keen to challenge for a spot.”
Cooney has signed from Evo-Stik side Stamford. The 20 year-old has previously had trials at Brentford and Celtic.
He had been training with Southport however he has put pen to paper on a deal with the Ancients.
Griffiths said;
“Tommy has a great pedigree. He’s been offered good money to play elsewhere, but he’s moved over here, did his research on us and was keen to sign.
“He’s a very good footballer and can play anywhere down the left. He offers competition down that side after we lost Max Penk and we’re expecting him to be pushing for a place in the side.”
