Healey joins Holywell Town

Experienced striker Lee Healey joined Holywell Town on Monday afternoon in a transfer the fans will claim as a significant coup.

Healey joins after spells at Bangor City and gap Connah’s Quay, having no difficulty in finding the net at either club. An out and out forward, he has scored 16 Welsh Premier League goals.

During his time as a Welsh Premier League player, he wrote himself into Connah’s Quay and Bangor’s fan folklore, scoring on the big stage.

For Connah’s Quay he secured a memorable late brace in under 10 minutes at Port Talbot, in a 2-1 win which began a successful relegation battle for the Nomads in the 13/14 season.

Bangor fans will remember him for his inspired Nantporth debut, which saw him score to win a match similarly against Port Talbot and lift Bangor off the bottom of the table in January 2015.

He went onto start regularly in a Bangor side that kept themselves in the Welsh Premier despite an early relegation scare.

A physical player with an eye for the goal, he will suit the Cymru Alliance and will certainly bolster Holywell Town’s ranks.

The news comes from a Holywell Town in good spirits following a recent 2-1 win over arch rivals Flint Town and an impressive home crowd of 329 against Prestatyn last weekend.
