gap Connah’s Quay Nomads vs Aberystwyth Town: Match Preview
The Nomads welcome Aberystwyth to Deeside on Sunday afternoon in what will be a vital fixture for both sides’ Welsh Premier League aspirations.
For Connah’s Quay, the fixture signals the start of six consecutive home fixtures in the league, during which they will look build a strong run of results. In their way is Aberystwyth, who have endured a mixed start to the season, recording wins over Llandudno and Airbus but losing their other four fixtures which leaves them tenth in the table.
Meanwhile gap Connah’s Quay have a unbeaten record and sit third in the table with three wins from six, but this doesn’t mean they’ll be satisfied with their start. A lack of goals has seen them held by Cefn Druids, Bala and Carmarthen, meaning they’ll be eager to find the net on Sunday.
Newly appointed Aberystwyth manager Matthew Bishop will bring with him a side including the likes of Luke Sherbon, Blake Davies and Kostya Georgievsky. His counterpart Andy Morrison is facing an injury crisis with seven players currently carrying injuries, with only three of those in with a chance of getting game time tomorrow.
Aberystwyth will have to fight off any feeling of homesickness in order to win tomorrow, with Park Avenue still without a match this season due to its 3G pitch installation. Nomads will be raring to go, with a victory needed to kick off their series of home ties.
As the sides haven’t met since October 2015, the fixture should have a freshness to it, making for another intense 90 Welsh Premier minutes in pursuit of the top six.
The game kicks off at 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon at Deeside Stadium.
