Nomads meet Tudno in midweek match-up
The Dafabet Welsh Premier League’s midweek fixture card has set up a date between gap Connah’s Quay Nomads and Llandudno at Deeside Stadium.
Whilst the season is still in its early stages, both teams will look to test each other as two of the league’s European representatives in the summer.
On paper, gap will be fancied to take the spoils on the back of a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Aberystwyth on Sunday evening. Despite being rocked by an extensive injury list, which includes Ian Kearney who has been ruled out for the season with an injury to his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).
Whilst Kearney will no doubt be missed by the Deeside faithful, a makeshift centre back pairing of John Disney and Jay Owen proved effective on Sunday against Aberystwyth, but they will be expecting a tougher test against Llandudno.
The Seasiders travel to Deeside knowing a win would give their season the jumpstart it needs, having won just two games from a possible seven so far and most recently losing out to new boys Cardiff Met at home on Sunday. Their confidence will not have been shattered by this result however, as beforehand they had gone four games unbeaten.
With both sides playing just two days ago, Andy Morrison and Alan Morgan’s selections will be interesting with the threat of fatigue very real to both sets of players.
A win for Nomads would see them retain their target position of second, whilst if results go their way, Llandudno could enter the top six for the first time this season.
The game kicks off at the Deeside Stadium for a 7:45pm.
