Match Report: Rhyl vs Bangor City

Toby Jones’ goal was enough to secure the three points for The Lilywhites against rivals Bangor on Tuesday night.

Rhyl’s great form continued since their demolition by TNS, and Niall McGuiness’s men now sit third in the table, leapfrogging Bangor.

Positive news for The Citizens was the fact Brayden Shaw and Sam Hart returned from their injuries. Bangor started the brighter, and were denied a goal when Jamie Reed was ruled offside.

Early in the second half Toby Jones grabbed what proved to be the winner with a deflected close range shot, following great work from former Citizen, Rio Ahmadi. Bangor came close to equalising, first hitting the crossbar then saw an effort cleared off the line.

It was a disappointing evening for The Citizens, in front of an excellent crowd of 1017 at The Corbett Sports Stadium.
