Pontypridd Town have appointed Phil Clay as assistant manager following Sam Houldsworth departure to Newport City last week.
Clay had most recently been an assistant manager at Division Two side Dinas Powys as well as being manager at Llantwit Major.
Clay’s appointment will enhance Ponty’s chances of a consecutive promotion, as Clay was part of a management duo that oversaw Llantwit Major’s promotion alongside Kevin Pycroft.
It gives The Dragons backroom staff a bit of a reshuffle as Damien Broad is welcomed back as Head Coach following time away from the club where he worked in China with Manchester City, but a new role with Bristol City’s academy will mean that he will be able to work both roles.
Danny Hooper and Mark Dunford who are part of the playing staff will take up coaching roles in what is a very experienced backroom staff.
Pontypridd Town released a statement welcoming the changes.
“Phil brings with him a wealth of coaching/management experience and has held roles at a number of Welsh League clubs. Welcome to the club Phil.”
