Risca United’s player-manager Paul Michael has today departed the club to join Southern League Premier side Cinderford Town.
Michael who was in his third spell at the club was still playing at the time. In a playing career that saw him make his Risca debut at 16 as well as spells with Haverfordwest County, Clevedon Town and Taffs Well.
Cinderford who have seen a plethora of Welsh players come in through the doors and depart the club, have former Cardiff City developmental strikers Jaye Bowen and Gethyn Hill, as well as Miles John and Lee Hartshorn.
The Foresters originally rejected promotion to the Southern Premier League due to costs of travelling but then accepted it. This led to manager John Brough leaving, to then be replaced by a joint manager team of Allan Gough and Chris Burns. The club hope that it will be an inspired appointment as they sit bottom of the table.
Michael won’t be in charge of todays game against Kings Lynn Town but will be in charge for the game against St Ives.
“I’m delighted to accept the position of manager at Cinderford Town Football Club. I believe that there is huge potential for this club to develop on and off the pitch in the coming days, weeks, months and years.”
