The New Saints stayed on track to break the British record of consecutive league wins on Saturday afternoon in one of a number of vital away wins in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League.

A valiant effort from Bangor City could not stop TNS in front of live Sgorio cameras on Saturday night. In what was a largely even affair for most of the game, with Bangor coming from 1-0 down to go in level at break via a Gary Roberts penalty.
However, an Alex Darlington strike in the early stages of the first half gave The New Saints their lead, one they successfully held onto to close in on Bangor’s record of 15 consecutive league victories.
Aberystwyth Town 1-3 gap Connah’s Quay Aberystwyth scorer: Chris Jones (3mins) gap scorers: Shelton Payne (46m) Nick Rushton (67m) Matthew Williams (80m) Attendance: TBC
gap Connah’s Quay Nomads got back to winning ways following their first defeat of the season last week, ending Aberystwyth’s great run of results at Park Avenue. Chris Jones produced the first goal in under three minutes, striking low into the bottom left corner past John Danby’s net.
It was two substitutions that would send Nomads ahead, with Shelton Payne and Nick Rushton both scoring with their first touches of the game. Matthew Williams then confirmed victory for his side with a close range header, to give Nomads an ultimately comfortable win.
Bala Town 1-0 Cardiff Met Bala scorer: Mike Hayes (21m) Attendance: 151
A solitary Hayes strike was enough to end Cardiff Met’s run which had seen them win five of their past seven games. Going ahead in the 21st minute, Bala did enough to hold on for the victory which sees them continue to coolly collect points in their sixth consecutive game unbeaten.
Rhyl 0-1 Carmarthen Carmarthen scorer: Lewis Harling (83m) Attendance: TBC
Carmarthen claimed a late victory at the Corbett Sports Stadium thanks to a Lewis Harling goal. In a cagey affair, both teams had their chances, but the Old Gold continued the day’s trend with a WPL win, with Rhyl’s early season form escaping them over the past month.
Airbus UK Broughton 0-2 Newtown AFC Newtown scorers: Neil Mitchell (65m) Ross Stephens (84m) Attendance: 255
A Mitchell strike and a penalty saw Newtown finally end a torrid run of results which had seen their last win in August. The game, between the league’s current bottom two, was even until Newtown turned the screw in the latter stages of the second half.
The win for Newtown will now give them more hope in their quest to climb the table and fight for a top six place.
Cefn Druids 1-3 Llandudno FC Druids scorer: Mike Pritchard (57m) Llandudno scorers: John Owen (61m) Mike Williams (82m) Leo Riley (85m) Attendance: TBC
The Rock was once again the setting for a late comeback on Friday evening, when two late goals from Llandudno’s Mike Williams and Leo Riley gave all three points to the Seasiders.
After a goalless first half, Llandudno looked the stronger side, successfully replying to Druid’s opener to secure the victory which, along with Saturday’s results, sent them fifth in the table.
