Caerau Ely have announced that they are planning to build a new stand, clubhouse and training facilities as they aim to meet the standards required to gain the Welsh Premier League domestic license in the future.

The club are required to have ground capable of holding 250 seated attendees in order to comply with the Tier 2 regulations coming into place from the 2017-18 next season, however the club have greater ambitions than that.

Club secretary Mike Jones said

The Welsh Premier should be the target for all at our level, we have more boxes to tick before we can get there.

The Young Guns, who won the Division 1 title in 2014-15, will be looking to make the step up to the Premier League and with the construction of a new clubhouse and new training facilities, they will be hoping that they can maintain and improve upon their high playing standards.

The new training facility is something the chairman has promised me since I started at the club ten years ago, as with everything else, he has come through. It isn’t easy as struggle year in year out just to survive so watching the club grow like this is something to be proud about.

The ground improvements would be funded by the Welsh Football Trust grounds improvement grant, however the improvements are pending the approval of the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The club hope to have their improvements in place in time before the new season.
