As the new year approaches, many will be wondering what story is to be told in 2017, I look at THREE teams who will be out to impress in the New Year.
With title races heating up and relegation battles to be fought, there are plenty of teams to be considered.
Llanelli Town
Llanelli finished last season in 7th place but this season they have been a fantastic outfit in Division Two. They currently occupy the top of Division Two and are in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup as well as a Round Three trip to WPL Champions The New Saints, this itself sets Llanelli up for a successful year in 2017, with the opportunity of a chance to return to former glories.
With the Lee Trundle factor surrounding the club, more and more fans look to flock to Steboneath Park to watch the former Swansea City star, a double promotion could be on the cards should Llanelli secure promotion to Division One.
Cardiff Metropolitan University
There is a possibility that should Cardiff Met secure their top six place in the next two fixtures, that they will be in with a shout of a Europa League spot, should they qualify via the Europa League play-off at the end of season showpiece in the Welsh Premier League.
What comes with Met is an unknown quantity when January comes, with only possible recruitment coming from their university squads, they have an ethos on togetherness and singing from the same hymn sheet.
With the club set to hold the League Cup final at their Cyncoed Campus in January, the club really are settling into life in the top flight.
Penybont
With a Welsh Cup victory over Premier League side Airbus UK to their name, Penybont look an impressive outfit.
The club have applied for a licence should they finish in a promotion spot, means that they are ready should they qualify for the top flight.
Former Plymouth Argyle striker Rhys Griffiths is in charge there now, showing that Penybont can attract such a big name in Welsh football and with his contacts in Welsh football, more players could be tempted to join from the squads he was involved in.
If Penybont can secure some early wins in the league and give a good account of themselves against in form Bala in the Welsh Cup then success could come to The KYMCO Stadium.
