IWAN WILLIAMS: WE WILL ROTATE TOMORROW

After their derby win over Porthmadog, Caernarfon turn their attentions to their Huws Gray Alliance Cup tie against Denbigh, Iwan Williams spoke pre-match.

Denbigh are under new management under Maurice-Jones and Williams paid respects to him.

I’m expecting a very tough game. Eddie’s a good Manager and I’ve got a lot of respect for him. I’m expecting a very tough game but and exciting one at the same time.

The last time the two sides met was a 4-4 draw, Williams feel Caernarfon have learned from their mistakes in the game.

“That game at Denbigh will haunt me forever! Without going into too much detail but the referee cost us that night, however we should have closed the game out being 4-2 up in injury time. You learn a lot more from adversity and it’s something we’ve definitely learnt from on the night.”

With two games in a week, there will be some kind of rotation in the squad for tomorrows fixture.

We will rotate against Denbigh as we have a great squad of players now so need to get everyone minutes to keep them sharp as we approach a busy month in January. Our philosophy will remain the same though and it doesn’t mean we’re weakening the side by rotating.

Williams finds Denbigh an unknown quantity but praises the recruitment that Maurice-Jones has had to his Denbigh side.

“I know Eddie has been busy recruiting but it will take time for him to build and out his own stamp on the side. We’re only concentrating on us though so if we apply ourselves like we did against Port, we’ll be fine.”

Where he sees the game being won and lost?

“Our front men are starting to find a bit of form so hopefully our pace up top will cause them problems. We have good ball players in midfield so if we can release the front men as soon as possible then that should cause Denbigh a lot of problems.”
