Steve Halliwell looking forward to Maurice-Jones reunion

Gresford boss Steve Halliwell be re-united with the manager that brought him into the club this afternoon as Gresford travel to Denbigh, who are managed by former Gresford boss Eddie Maurice-Jones.

Halliwell claims Saturday win at Conwy was a very good 3 points but admits they could of lost the game.

“I think it was a very good 3 points Saturday considering we were not at our best and could quite easily have lost the game, I think that they’re a decent side, Conwy had a lot of the ball first half and we found it very hard to break them down, second half we were much better and started finding some joy down the flanks, we missed Jack Chaloner Saturday his aerial power and his energy would have helped us out a lot.”

He is looking forward to Saturday’s game at Denbigh and looking forward to going up against his good friend Eddie-Maurice-Jones.

“I’m really looking forward to Saturdays game it’ll be good to go head to head with my friend Eddie, he brought me in at Gresford as reserve team manager when he was installed as first team manager and from the first moment to the last we had a very good relationship and he helped me out a lot.

I’ll be doing everything in my power to get the 3 points on Saturday! And I know the lads will be feeling as excited as me to get onto the pitch sat and face some ex team mates.”

He’s very pleased with away record and wants it to continue come Saturday Evening.

“Of course to have an excellent away record is very pleasing, we’re unbeaten away since I came in and if we can get to Saturday night with that record still intact I’ll be a very happy gaffer!”

Halliwell has had Denbigh watched over the last two weeks.

“I’ve had Denbigh watched twice in the past 2 weeks, and I’m confident we know where there strengths and weaknesses lie, and will set up a team and system accordingly.”

Halliwell confirms some of the players have knocks ahead of the game.

“As it stands we are nursing a few knocks from Saturday, I know there’ll be one missing possibly two, but I’m not going to say anymore on that till we’ve got through this weeks training sessions, But I know one thing win lose or draw we will share a beer after the game.”
