Welsh Premier League outfit Carmarthen Town have today announced that their Richmond Park ground will now be called the Cymru Tyres Stadium after they signed a sponsorship with the tyre supplier.
The Old Gold have been playing at Richmond Park since its construction in 1952 and it is understood this is the first time the ground will be named under the guise of a sponsor.
Having been renovated twice, once in 2003 and later in 2012, the stadium is a UEFA Category 1 stadium. However, it has been announced recently that the Welsh Premier League club are set to renovate the ground once more as they look set to move to a 3G surface.
The new stadium sponsorship and new surface will see a new look Richmond Park, and whilst construction of the 3G surface will not take place until before the 2017-18 season, the Cymru Tyres Stadium name change will come into immediate effect.
