Chris Jones swaps Black and Greens for Lido

Aberystwyth Town midfielder Chris Jones has departed the Welsh Premier League side for Welsh League club Afan Lido.

The former Port Talbot midfielder made the move today as Afan Lido announced the marquee signing.

The 27 year-old had previously been playing in Canada for Thunderbay Chill before joining Aberyswyth in the summer but has since moved on to Lido.

He came through Swansea City’s youth academy, making seven first team appearances for the Swans, as well as loan moves to Cambridge and Grimsby.

Jones is already known to those in the Welsh Premier League and in Welsh footbal all round, after he played for defunct side Neath FC, scoring 14 goals in two and a half seasons for the Eagles.

The former Steelman also has winnng pedigree, winning the Welsh Premier League twice with The New Saints, as well as being part of the side that beat his former club Aberystwyth in the Welsh Cup.

Jones could make his debut tomorrow in front of a home crowd at the Marston Stadium as Afan Lido entertain Caldicot Town as Lido look to get their season back on track after a mixed bag of results.
