Kerry could clinch the Spar 2 Title

With the season almost at a close, this weekend sees 1st play 2nd in Spar 2 as the Leauge leaders, Kerry, host Borth.

With Kerry currently sitting top of Spar 1 with 50 points and Borth just behind on 48, having played one more game, this weekends fixture between the two clubs becomes all the more interesting.

The previous fixture which was held at Borth on August 27th, saw Borth win 2-1. A similar result this time and it would put a lot of pressure on Kerry to get the three points in their game in hand against Churchstoke.

Kerry

They have had a very good season seeing them only drop 13 points in 21 games. The most impressive win has to be their game with Builth Wells FC back in mid February, they thrashed ‘the bulls’ 7-1. A spokesman from the club said;

We’ve not had a problem scoring goals this year, with 3 players Luke Mumford, Daryl Mcwatt and Mark Hughes all scoring over 10 goals. Our very young defense has been re-enforced with the addition of the experienced centre back, Mark Probert. Since he’s joined this season we’ve not conceded more than 2 goals in one game all season.

He also said that it’s going to be a fantastic spectacle this weekend and that they would love to win the match and keep going till the end of the season.

Borth

Like their opponents they have had a very good season, but dropping 18 points in 22 games means they need an unbeaten run til the end of the season and hope Kerry drop points. Their most impressive win came in this reverse fixture where they won 2-1 at home and they will be hoping for another hard fought three points.

A win for Kerry would see them crowned champions of Spar 2 and would see them promoted. 2nd place also get promoted, thus the game takes on an even greater importance.

The game takes place at Dolforgan Park, Kerry, SY16 4DE. Kick off scheduled for 3:00.
