With only two weeks of the Spar Mid Wales League One campaign remaining, Rhayader have an opportunity to win the title this weekend.
They face third placed Berriew, and as second placed Carno host Llandrinod Wells, there are two ways that Rhayader can be crowned champions and be promoted to the Huws Gray Alliance, providing they meet second tier criteria.
Rhayader have currently played a game more than Carno and are eight points ahead. If Rhayader were to lose against a very high scoring Berriew and mid table Llandrindod were to beat Carno, it would see Rhayader win the league by at least two points.
With this, a Rhayader and Llandrindod Wells win tomorrow will deliver the title to the Red Kites.
However, if Rhayader are to draw and Carno beat Llandrindod and win their game in hand against Tywyn Bryncrug, it would leave a mouth watering fixture at the end of the season as Rhayader and Carno both meet the final league fixture.
If this was the case, Carno will need the likes of Peter Rees to find a strong run of form as they’re currently 14 goals off Rhayader, but after Carno’s huge unbeaten run earlier this season, they can’t be ruled out just yet.
