FANS Spar Mid Wales League Division One ‘Team of the Season’

Over the last few weeks, YClwbPelDroed and MW_Footy have been conducting a vote for the Spar Mid Wales League Division One ‘Team of the Season’ and the end results could spark up some debate as there’s only one Rhayader Town player..

 

Goalkeeper

Joe Prosser – Rhayader

Rhayader’s number 1 has been a key feature in their title winning campaign. Prosser has kept 11 clean sheets in 28 games for the Red Kites. He also featured in the team of the team of the year for 2016.

Dylan James-Bow Street

Bow Street have a set piece specialist in Dylan James, he’s solid and experienced fullback. Knows how to play his roll to a high quality and has a role through out the team helping the younger players develop. James has been missing for the previous 8 weeks due to a broken leg but is motivated to get back ready for next season.

Tom James-Hay St Mary’s 

The quick over lapping full back for Hay St Mary’s has troubled oppositions defence this season. At the age of 22 he still has a lot to learn, but isn’t scared of a tackle and is outstanding in the air.

Shaun Nichols-Llandrinod Wells

The captain of the ‘Blue Army’ has only missed 30 minuites of football this season due to a red card and the games he was suspended for. Nichols has consistantly performed for Llandrindod this season seeing him be a rock at the back. He has also been a threat in the area from set pieces seeing him score 5 goals so far this season.

Sion Clarke-Aberaeron

The Aberaeron skipper always demands the best from him self and his team. He always wears his heart on his sleeve seeing him gain respect from his team mates, management team and opponents. Playing 30 games this season he has found the net 9 times.

Right Midfield

Robbie Nichols

The right winger for Llandrindod Wells has with out a doubt been a stand out player for them this season. His pace and sharpness can cause all kinds of havoc for defenders. He won the player of the month award for December and has picked up 15 goals through out the season

Joey Price-Radnor Valley

The tricky winger has consistantly performed for Radnor this season, he can run in behind defences or cut inside on to his favoured right foot. His quality shot has seen him score 32 goals in all competitions, 7 of which are free kicks, and has also provided the team with 10 assists

Centre Defensive Midfielder

Matt James- Hay St Mary’s 

The 20 year old was scouted by Cheltenham Town FC as a youngester and also featured for Hereford United preseason. He makes sure he is always tight on his man and is key for his team to break up the play.

Brendan Hackett- Hay St Mary’s 

Hays captain plays just behind the striker, he is always demanding of the ball. His pace helps him beat a man, as does his close control. He has picked up 25 goals in all competitions this season.

Iwan Mathews-Llanrhaedr 

Mathews loves to sit on the shoulder of the back four, awaiting the passes to see him one on one. His pace and his good footwork have seen him pick up 25 goals in all competitions and 10 assists.

Richard Davies-Berriew

Berriew have Davies to thank for their high goal difference this season, the pacey striker loves to get in behind and has seen him score 39 goals in 37 games in all competitions and picking up 10 assists for his teammates.

Considering Rhayader Town won the Leauge they only ended up with 1 player in this team. Same goes for runners up Berriew. Congratulations to those that were put forward to the polls by myself, @CTSport and also the 9 clubs.
