Barry Town United sign experienced midfielder

Clayton Green

Barry Town United have signed their second player of the summer, bringing in experienced midfielder Clayton Green from Evostick Premier League side Frome Town.

Gavin Chesterfield has opted to bring in his second player of the summer as his side prepares for Welsh Premier League football for the first time in 13 years.

Clayton has a vast amount of experience in playing in the English leagues – and has also played for the likes of Paulton Rovers and Evesham.

He is a player Chesterfield is familiar with having previously captained the University of South Wales football team, and he’ll be hoping his experience will help Barry Town United in the Welsh Premier League next season.

The player is also son of former Barry Town player Phil Green, who registered a total of 70 goals during his time at the club.

Speaking following the player’s signature, Chesterfield expressed his delight of capturing the experienced midfielder and he’ll be sure to play a part in Barry Town United’s bit to sustain Welsh Premier League football in their first season back in the big time.

Troy Greening is another midfield player who has also committed himself to Barry Town United for the 2017/2018 season – and the 24 year-old will be looking to add to the 113 appearances he’s made for the club already.

Delighted that our talented Troy Greening has committed to the club for the season ahead. Troy just 24 already has 113 club appearances 🙌🏼pic.twitter.com/jBT7tJVHob
