Lilywhites recruit experienced Non-League striker Titchiner
Rhyl have continued their summer of rebuilding for the Huws Gray Alliance with the signing of 26 year old striker Alex Titchener from Conwy Borough.
The St Asaph born striker was last playing for recently relegated Conwy Borough, scored four goals for the Tangerines last season.
Titchener joins the Lilywhites to fill the role of recently departed Toby Jones, whom the club fought to try and retain before his move to Llandudno.
The 26 year old adds a wealth of experience to a young Rhyl side, with spells at Crewe Alexandra and Fleetwood town in the Football League as part of his CV.
Speaking to rhylfc.co.uk, the striker was optimistic about working under manager Niall McGuinness, saying “having known Niall for over 20 years, working with him was always going to be an attractive prospect.”
McGuinness also spoke of his desire to work with Alex, saying he is in the exact mould of a striker he has been looking out for since his arrival at Belle Vue.
“He is a top top player and will be the missing piece of the jigsaw. I’ve wanted this type of centre forward since I came to the club and as people know they are hard to come by but I feel we’ve now got it.”
Alex himself said he’s delighted to join his hometown side and knows Rhyl manager Niall McGuiness quite well.
I’ve known Niall for over 20 years, working with him was always going to be an attractive prospect. Although I moved away from the area 10 years ago, you never forget where you came from.
The town of Rhyl is evidently going through a period of investment to raise its profile and the club has a manager wanting to put the Football Club at the heart of all that. His ambition to be successful and put a smile on the face of others is a goal we both share and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”
Rhyl fans will have the opportunity to see Titchiner pull on the white of Rhyl in three weeks time as they host City of Liverpool.
