STM Sports announce expansion with youth side formed

Welsh League Division Two side STM Sports have announced they are to enter the Welsh League Youth League next season.

The Llanrumney based side have enjoyed a remarkable rise through the Welsh pyramid system and now the club have announced an expansion of the club, by the introduction of a youth team.

STM will join the Welsh Football League Youth Division where they will play against teams such as Ton Pentre, Caerau Ely, Bridgend Street and Taffs Well. The winners of that division were Ton Pentre last season.

The division will now boast 16 teams as part of a merger of the divisions.

It is a move that will hopefully see more players from the area make their way into the first team, giving players a chance to play competitive football whilst representing STM.

The playing squad will consist of the AFC Rumney U18’s squad, which won the League and Cup double last season and joining them will be the manager who masterminded the success, John Jones.

Manager John Jones has been with AFC Rumney for some time and managed the current batch from the U7 age group, as well as time as senior manager of the club.

The development of the club will not stop here though as the club also have plans for a reserve side and another youth side for the 2018/2019 season.
