New Saints could move to new eight-thousand seater stadium – reports

The New Saints could be moving from their home in Park Hall to a new multi-purpose stadium in Oswestry.

The champions previously played their home games at the Recreation Ground but now another move could be on the cards.

Mike Harris, who has been involved with the club for 20 years has overseen many developments during his involvement at the club, including the move from Llansantffraid to Oswestry, a move which saw the clubs matches being played in England.

Under his chairmanship though, the club has gone strength to strength and has become a dominant force in Welsh foootball, winning the Welsh Premier League, the Nathaniel MG Cup and the Welsh Cup on numerous occasions.

Jonny Drury of the Shropshire Star reports that Mike Harris has been in discussions with both Oswestry Town and Oswestry Rugby Club about a possible move.

“It could be up to 8,000 seats, and that would allow us to hold our Champions League games in the town, and for FC Oswestry to potentially have FA Cup games in the town when it comes to it, which would be massive”

The location of the ground would be in the town centre of Oswestry, making it accessible to get to. The talks are at an early stage as the three clubs await the decision of the local council.
