Barry Town United have today announced the signing of Ryan Newman from Herts Senior County League outfit Bovingdon following his impressive display against Newport County in the pre-season friendly win on Tuesday evening.
The 24 year-old was excellent throughout, and dictating play from midfield superbly, and his services will only add to Gavin Chesterfield’s midfield options in the middle of the park.
The industrious midfielder also had spells at Hampton & Richmond Borough, Newport County, Merthyr Town as well as spending time on loan at National League South outfit Hemel Hempstead on loan.
The midfielder, originally from Barry is Town’s fourth signing of the season having acquired the services of former Merthyr Town striker Kayne McLaggon, young winger Sam Jones and former Ipswich Town youth player Elliot Scotcher.
Speaking of the signing to Barry Town United’s website, manager Gavin Chesterfield spoke of his delight in capturing the 23 year-old midfielder and commented on how he will add a different dimension to the Vale of Glamorgan outfit.
Chesterfield said: “I’m excited to be working with Ryan – he’s a player that I’ve admired from his time with Newport and Merthyr and once I heard he was returning home from London, I was naturally keen to work with him.
“Being a local lad, he’s already close friends with many of our players and as such he’s fitted into the changing room very well. I believe he’ll add a different dimension to parts of our play and his signing further strengthens our squad.”
