Last season’s Welsh Premier League runners up Connah’s Quay Nomads have announced the signings of four players on a full time basis for the 17/18 season.
In a move hailed a major step towards professional football, Connah’s Quay have signed Joe Heath, Declan Poole, Jake Phillips and Rhys Williams on a full time basis.
Heath, Phillips and Poole wre were all part of The Nomads’ UEFA Europa League squad where they lost out 3-1 on aggregate against HJK Helsinki, with Williams making recent appearances in the club’s pre season friendly campaign.
Forward Declan Poole originally joined the Nomads in January, making a number of appearances in the Welsh Premier which culminated in a goal of the season nomination for a game-winning strike against The New Saints.
Midfielder Jake Phillips signed for the club in the summer, making his debut at the 5G Telia Areena against HJK Helsinki.
Joe Heath becomes a Nomad boasting Football League experience with Nottingham Forest after spending time at Manchester United. He has also played at Lincoln City, Hereford United, Chester and Runcorn Town as a left sided defender.
Rhys Williams joins the Nomads’ goalkeeper ranks after a successful trial period and experience at Bury, Carlisle and Colchester United as well as appearances for Wales at an U19 level.
The club’s inaugural professionals are in preparation for Nomads’ start of the season away at North East Wales rivals Prestatyn Town on August 11th.
