Ton Pentre have continued to add to their first team squad as they prize away Cambrian & Clydach duo Huw Bowtell and see young midfielder Corey Shephard return to the club.
Both come in contention for today’s away friendly against Paulton Rovers before the competitive season begins for Lee Phillips men.
Leon Jacka most recently rejoined Ton Pentre after a brief spell last season with Cambrian & Clydach, highlighting the close proximity of both sides as they compete for players in the Rhondda Cynon-Taf area.
Shephard originally signed for Cambrian this summer but has since moved back to Ynys Park and has reunited with his team mates of last season.
As well as playing for Ton Pentre’s first team last season after being released by English Football League Two side Newport County, Shephard also played a part in the young Bulldogs side which won the league title.
Speaking to tonpentreafc.com, Shephard expressed his delight in returning to Ton Pentre and is eaer for the new season to begin.
“I’m very happy to be back at Ton Pentre, I can’t wait to get started and hopefully play my part in a good season.”
As well as Shephard signing from Cambrian, long-serving forward Huw Bowtell has left Cambrian after nine-years and links up with Ton Pentre manager Lee Phillips who identified the need for another striker.
Bowtell had already featured for Ton Pentre in the clubs commanding pre-season victory over Swansea University as Lee Phillips ran the rule on the experienced front-man.
The Bulldogs begin their competitive season next week as they travel to Cwmbran Celtic who finished 5th last season in Division One.
