Ammanford AFC have signed Llanelli Town AFC left back Richard Lewis ahead of the 2017/18 season, ending his tenure with the Reds as he rejoins his former club for a second time.
Lewis had been at Llanelli for a few years, having guided his hometown club back up through the leagues, winning the Welsh League Division Three and Division Two titles.
However, the player has now rejoined Ammanford AFC as a player-coach for a second spell after departing the club back in 2010/11 having spent five seasons with the Carmarthenshire outfit.
The former Haverfordwest County player linked up with the boys in black and white in 2006/07 and netted two times in five appearances. He followed this up with three goals in 16 games the next season.
However, it was in 2008/09 that his real breakthrough occurred. The winger bagged 18 goals in 23 appearances for the club. He then improved once more as he netted 28 goals during the next campaign under the leadership of then manager Craig Maloney.
The 2010/11 season was his final at the Rec, and whilst not as clinical as previous seasons, he still managed to find the back of the net 18 times.
Despite a successful period at the Reds, where he was deployed at left back, a succession of injuries meant Lewis' game time was limited.
However, Lewis played 108 games during his spell with the club and scored 18 times.
The player has now though linked up with his former club as a player-coach where he will be hoping to push on from Ammanford's previous 5th and 6th placed finishes in the last two season.
Lewis will be hoping to begin his second Ammanford stint with a starting birth and three points this weekend against Abergavenny Town.
