Carmarthen Town manager Mark Aizlewood pens new two-year deal

Carmarthen Town manager Mark Aizlewood has extended his stay at Richmond Park by committing to a further two years at the West Wales club.

The former Cardiff City and Wales international led his side to the Welsh Premier League play-offs last season, losing 2-1 to Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The club announced the news on their official website this afternoon ahead of the vastly approaching new season, as Carmarthen Town begin with a few weeks away from their Richmond Park home due to pitch renovations as they join a long-line of Welsh clubs to install a 3G pitch.

During his eight-year stay at Carmarthen Town, Aizlewood delivered success through the League Cup with the club, winning the trophy back to back in the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons.

In his playing career, Aizlewood played for a number of sides both in Wales and England, with a majority of his appearances coming for Charlton Athletic, Luton Town and Bristol City. In a playing career that spanned 25 years, he wore the red of Wales 39 times

Speaking to CarmarthenTownAFC.co.uk, Aizlewood praised Club President and Main Sponsor, Einsley Harries for his continued involvement with the club.

“Einsley Harries has been a wonderful and enthusiastic supporter of CTFC for many years. He is undoubtedly an unsung hero who has played a major part in all things good at CTFC.

As well as being a major sponsor I am proud to say that he and his good lady Lyn have become good friends of myself and my family away from CTFC.”

The Old Gold begin the new Welsh Premier League season with a trip to North Wales side Llandudno this coming Saturday.
