The Connah’s Quay Nomads have added two more full time signings in Mathias and Michael Bakare ahead of their season opener this evening against Prestatyn Town.
The two brothers have played for a number of clubs in England’s non-league pyramid system and now the two brothers will be playing alongside each other.
Andy Morrison’s men are looking to transition into a full time club and after the most recent contract signings which turned to full time status, the Nomads have added more full time players to their ranks.
Both Mathias and Michael Bakare have been on trial at the club over the course of pre-season and forward Michael Bakare helped claim his stake in search of a full-time contract by scoring in the club’s recent 3-0 victory over Flint Town United.
Michael, the elder brother of the two has had a long career in English fotball and already has experienced playing in North Wales, having played for National League side Wrexham last season, where he played eight times for the Dragons.
The 30 year-old has also played in the Football League, where he made nine appearances for Macclesfield Town before their relegation to the Conference back in 2012. His best goal scoring record game at Bishop’s Stortford where he scored 13 goals in 35 appearances.
Speaking to the-nomads.co.uk, Andy Morrison commented on how Bakare could be a good signing for the club and has called on him to score the goals the Nomads need this season.
Michael played at Wrexham last season and I feel he offers something different to what we already have – he’s very quick and wants to run in behind and scores goals. I feel that Mathias has a bright future ahead of him and going full time will allow him to fulfil his potential.”
22 year-old Mathias can operate as both as a defender and a midfielder and has played for sides such as Billericay Town, Brentwood Twn, Aveley and VCD Athletic.
Both players miss out on making their competitive debut in tonight’s season opener but could make their competitive debut against Carmarthen Town, next week pending on international clearance.

Not one of these Connahs Quay full-timers is what I would call a marquee signing. I just don’t understand what’s going on there at all
