Pontypridd Town have continued their unique stamp on Welsh football by bringing in Rhys Carr on a dual-capacity basis.
Carr who is currently employed as Championship side Bristol City’s First Team fitness coach, will bring his experience from the professional level to the amateur game, as both a player and as a coach.
He currently possesses the UEFA ‘A’ Licence qualification and has worked with the first team of Swansea City and Cardiff City as well as working as an Opposition Analyst.
As well as his extensive coaching opportunities, Carr has experience as a player in the Welsh pyramid system, having previously played for Pontypridd Town.
The full-back was part of the Taffs Well youth system and has had experience in the Welsh Premier League, with appearances for sides like Llanelli and the now defunct Cardiff Grange Quins.
He will also know a familiar face in Scott Hillman and Jamal Easter, who both spent time at Bridgend Town with Carr back in 2013.
Over a fortnight ago, the Pontypridd Town players were put through their paces by England and Crystal Palace goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, as the Dragons prepared for the upcoming season.
And prepared they were, Dom and Damien Broad’s side recorded a 7-1 away victory over Rhondda rivals AFC Porth.
They now prepare for their second Rhondda Derby in the space of a fortnight as they take on Cambrian & Clydach Vale in Round Two of the Welsh Football League Cup.
