Bala Town have today been dealt a blow as their captain Chris Venables has accepted a retrospective three match ban for violent conduct.
The ban comes after the FAW’s compliance department conducted an investigation into the Bala skipper’s involvement in an incident during a game against Connah’s Quay Nomads on 8 September.
The incident saw a Venables involved a scuffle after a tackle by Connah’s Quay’s Ryan Wignall.
Wignall was shown a red card for his involvment, whereas Venables was shown a yellow and remained on the pitch.
He will now miss Bala’s games against Aberystwyth, Bangor and Newtown, but remains available for tonight’s away fixture against Cefn Druids.
Hailed as marquee signing in July 2016, Venables has become a mainstay in the Bala Town starting eleven and has represented them the Europa League.
He has won three Welsh Premier League golden boots and was named player of the season in 2013/14 after outstanding performances as an Aberystwyth Town player.
