RECAP: Cardiff Metropolitan University vs Pontypridd Town
Cardiff Metropolitan University and Pontypridd Town will meet competitively for the first time in 21 months as they rekindle their battles from the Welsh League days in the Nathaniel MG Cup.
The two sides had some eye catching games during the pairs time in Division Three, before Cardiff Metropolitan University went on a rapid rise through Welsh football’s pyramid system, where they have cemented themselves as a Premier League side.
Pontypridd Town as well have ambitions of their own after moving to the rival campus of Cardiff Metropolitan University, where their university side will play tomorrow at the USW Sports Park.
This evening though, the two sides will meet at Cyncoed Campus with the Dragons hoping to be one of the sides that can pull off an upset in the MG Cup, after being invited into the competition as a wildcard entry.
The last time the two sides met, it was Pontypridd Town who won the bragging rights after being Met back in January 2016 in the Welsh Football League Cup, with Tim Parker scoring the only goal for the Archers that day.
We’ll be keeping you up to date on all of the action before the game, during the game and after, giving you an in-depth analysis of tonight’s fixture.
