Ynysddu Welfare defender David Palmer has taken his first steps into senior management as he leaves the Ddus to join local rivals Cefn Fforest as First Team Manager.
Palmer will still continue his playing career, operating as a player-manager at his new club where he will be in control of footballing matters.
An injury picked up earlier this season has given Palmer the platform to consider a change into management.
He already has some management experience behind him after managing the Reserve side of the Welfare two seasons ago, as well as taking over the U18s squad where he made the youth side hard to bear and made a pathway for a route into the first team.
The move to Cefn Fforest brings to an end a four year involvement with the club, where he has made over 100 appearances for the Division Two side, scoring almost twenty goals in a defensive position.
The club announced the news on their website and gave their best wishes to the departing stalwart and stressed his importance to the team.
“We have no doubt that Dai will be a huge success at Cefn Fforest and he will be missed both on and off the field at The Welfare.
The club would like to put on record its gratitude to Dai for his commitment and attitude on the field and also his dedication off the field.”
