Citizens announce departure of Anderson Cayola

Bangor City FC have this afternoon confirmed that Bolivian forward Anderson Cayola has left the Welsh Premier League club, after an agreement was reached not to extend the former CE Artesa De Sagre player’s contract.

Cayola joined the North Wales outfit in July 2017, after an impressive trial period resulted in Citizens boss Kevin Nicholson wanting to secure the forward on a permanent deal.

Cayola arrived in the UK with the LSA (Learning Soccer Academy), which is lead by former Barcelona and Swansea City full-back Federico Bassone.

The striker has struggled to impress in his time at Bangor, only making five full appearances and three substitute appearances. Cayola found the net twice in his short stay in North Wales; converting a penalty against The New Saints in the season opener, his final goal would prove to be against Cwmamman United in the JD Welsh Cup, a game which the Citizens would go on to win 4-3.

The form of ex-Blackburn Rovers striker Dean Rittenburg has prevented Cayola from being able to nail down a place in the starting eleven; the Englishman has netted eight times so far this season.

Former Blackpool forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher has also proved difficult to displace from the starting eleven, as the assistant manager has found the net six times so far this term.

The 21-year-old has received an invite to trial with Birkirkara FC, who play in the Maltese Premier League, as the Bolivian-born forward looks to show what he is capable of.
