Aberystwyth Town sign experienced Bangor City midfielder Damien Allen

Aberystwyth Town have confirmed the signing of Bangor City midfielder Damien Allen, who leaves the club after a long-term stay.

Allen will link up with former Bangor City manager Neville Powell, the manager who brought him in to the JD Welsh Premier League at Bangor City.

It brings to an end a six-year stay at the club after signing from English League side Colwyn Bay back in November. Allen altogether made 151 appearances in the Welsh top flight, with eleven goals in those appearances.

The former Manchester United youth made 17 appearances this season, including the two Europa League qualifying matches with Danish side Lyngby BK. He was on the scoresheet in the Citizens 3-2 defeat to Cardiff Metropolitan University back in October.

He underwent surgery back in December and his last appearance was part of Bangor’s 5-0 victory over Bala Town back in November.

The Green & Blacks finished Phase One with a 4-2 victory over second-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads, making the gap between themselves and second from bottom Prestatyn Town, seven points.

“Bangor City FC would like to record its thanks to Damien for his professionalism and service to the club over the six years and wishes him well with his new club. Diolch yn fawr a phob lwc, Damien!” said Bangor City in a statement on their website, confirming the departure of the midfielder.
