Chesterfield coy on european play-off spot despite retaining 100% record in phase two of JD Welsh Premier League

Barry Town United manager Gavin Chesterfield was delighted with his side’s application and desire to come from a goal-down to defeat Llandudno Town at Jenner Park as they moved five points ahead of saturday’s opponents.

The win means that Barry have won all three of their games in phase two, but chesterfield remains coy on focussing on that elusive final play-off spot.

He said: “All we can focus on is Prestatyn away – I know I am sounding boring there, but every team is a good teamin this league and three wins in a row doesn’t assure us of anything, all we need to do is be exicited about the trip to Prestatyn and we will embrace the challenge next weekend.”

Chesterfield was also dealt a massive blow with Kayne McLaggon going off injured but Barry showed a real elegance and class about themselves after going behind and alluded to the fact how far his side have come in the JD Welsh Premier League this season.

“Hopefully its not too bad, like we do with all the other players, we will look after him and he will be assessed from Monday and we’ll have to just go from there.”

“Maybe earlier on in the season that may have been a game we would have crumbled because we are still growing but that shows how much we have developed this season and to score four goals really shows the positive edge that we have”

James Demetriou scored a hat-trick and could have a huge part to play between now and the end of the season and the Barry manager was full of praise for the former Bangor man, who put in a man of the match display againt Llandudno.

“He has really brought into what the club is really about and it might have been frustrating for him because the form of others have kept him out, but I was really pleased to see him getting three goals today and three good goals at that, too.”
