JD Welsh Premier League

Barry Town United showed tenacity and class to blow Llandudno Town away at Jenner Park in the second-half, but what were the key aspects learnt in this JD Welsh Premier League clash?

The win meant that Gavin Chesterfield’s side moved five points clear of the visitors and we take a closer look below at the key aspects learned from Jenner Park on Saturday afternoon.

Barry are absolutely flying, but Chesterfield coy on elusive European play-off spot…

It is now three wins on the spin for Barry Town United in Phase Two of the Welsh Premier League, as Gavin Chesterfield’s side have flown out of the blocks in the second-half of the campaign.

It is important that they don’t get carried away just yet, though and Chesterfield alluded to this following the win at Jenner Park yesterday

James Demetriou storms to hat-trick in man of the match display at Jenner Park…

When Kayne McLaggon went off injured, there was disappointment all around Jenner Park, but what they were about to witness, was incredible.

James Demetriou took the game by the scrape of its neck and bagged himself an impressive hat-trick. At times, he was scintillating and he could be key as Barry aim for that final elusive play-off spot come the end of the season, especially if McLaggon’s injury is a long-term one.

Llandudno storm out of blocks, but fade unexpectedly…

It some start for the visitors, but Iwan Williams will be very disappointed with the way his side collapsed so unexpectedly in the second-half

In the first-half, they looked a constant threat on the counter-attack and at one stage, had Barry rattled after taking the lead inside the minute, so their second-half performance came somewhat as a surprise, but credit where its due, the hosts were sensational after equalising and fully deserved their third win on the spin.
