The New Saints sign Accrington Stanley Youth captain Josh Hmami

The New Saints have added Football League youngster Josh Hmami to their squad ahead of the new season.

Hmami is The New Saints’ second signing after the addition of Hamilton Academical midfielder Danny Redmond.

The 18-year-old made one senior appearance for League Two Champions, Accrington Stanley, coming in as a substitute against Grimsby Town on the 30th December after impressing manager John Coleman, during training sessions.

On signing for The New Saints, Hmami said: “I am really happy to sign for TNS and looking forward to working with both Scott and Steve (Ruscoe and Evans). I am hoping to be a good addition to what is already an outstanding team and I cannot wait for the season to start!

He is the U18s captain of Accrington Stanley and has had previous experience with Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers. He scored the winning goal against Rochdale in the FA Youth Cup second round last campaign.

“He is only eighteen and is a very good player, especially in possession of the ball. He has a great attitude and will be someone we will look to improve and develop for the future.” said Ruscoe on tnsfc.co.uk

The Accrington Stanley youngster had been training with TNS towards the end of the 2017/2018 season, with manager Scott Ruscoe having a closer look at Hmami.

He has been given the 18 shirt which had previously been worn by last seasons recruits Mihai Leca and Tom Holland.
