Carmarthen Town continue to strengthen as Hanbury and Vickers join Old Gold

Carmarthen Town have made their fourth and fifth summer signings in as many days, as they assemble a squad to compete in next seasons Welsh Premier League.

Jordan Vickers and Sean Hanbury join Declan Carroll, Greg Walters and Tyrelle Webbe at Richmond Park, as Neil Smothers continues to add to his squad.

Jordan Vickers had spent last season playing in Division One, for both Cwmamman United and Llanelli Town, helping his two sides to survival and promotion. Vickers operates as a right-back and was part of Cwmamman’s promotion-winning team back in the 2016/2017 campaign.

Hanbury joins Carmarthen having played for Afan Lido last season. The former Swansea City youngster had a brief trial spell with Swansea’s South Wales rivals Cardiff City.

He operates as a winger but can also play as a central forward and could be seen as a replacement for Mark Jones, who left the club to join Welsh Premier league new boys Llanelli Town. The 18-year-old was involved in an international youth tournament at St George’s Park, playing for a Swans side against the academies of Arsenal, Juventus and Spartak Moscow.

Lee Idzi, Luke Cummings, Jordan Knott, Luke Bowen, Ceri Morgan, Liam Thomas and Lewis Harling have all committed their futures to the club, as they begin a new campaign.

The Old Gold finished 11th, which would usually result in relegation but stayed up via Bangor City being demoted due to failing their licence.
