RECAP: Wales v Russia – FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Wales host Russia at Newport Stadium this evening, in a crucial FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier.

It is the penultimate game in their World Cup Qualifying campaign, with England next up after tonight’s fixture. The last time these two sides met, it was a goalless draw.

Jayne Ludlow’s side are currently unbeaten in qualifying, scoring four goals and conceding none in their six matches.

Wales won their last match, against Bosnia & Herzegovina 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium, with Kayleigh Green scoring the only goal after Helen Ward missed a penalty.

It is the first match that Jess Fishlock will have played, after being awarded an MBE on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
