Port Talbot Town appoint Mark Pike as new First Team Manager
Wales U18 Academy National Team manager Mark Pike is to take charge of Port Talbot Town next season.
Pike replaces Cortez Belle who stood down from his role after he replaced Paul Evans last season.
He has been a long-term servant to the club in the roles of Academy Director and First Team coach. His work was recognised by the Football Association of Wales back in 2015 when he was named FAW National Development Coach of the Year.
“Mark has been an integral part of the club’s academy and youth structure over the last two decades and has played an important role in the first-team over the last few seasons.” said a statement by Port Talbot Town.
“As a result of this appointment, Cortez Belle will be stepping down with immediate effect.
Port Talbot Town would like to thank Cortez for his time and effort put into the previous season and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Pike had previous managerial experience at Welsh League level with Trefelin Boys & Girls Club, before he was replaced by Richie Ryan at the start of last season
He managed his Wales U18 Academy to a 2-0 and 3-0 win over Gibraltar back in May.
Last season, Port Talbot Town finished 13th in Division One, with 29 points on the board, the same position that they finished in their first season in the Welsh League, after being relegated from the Welsh Premier League.
