Penybont strengthen squad with triple signing of Borelli, Dalton and Rodon

Penybont have signed trio Luke Borrelli, Sam Rodon and Oli Dalton, ahead of the new Welsh League season.

The trio aren’t the only players to sign for Penybont. Manager Rhys Griffiths and assistant Martyn Giles are expected to make further signings in the weeks leading up to the opening fixture of the season.

Borrelli, 27, has played for clubs like Afan Lido, Haverfordwest County and Port Talbot Town.

He’s scored 28 goals in 88 appearances in his career. Last season he had three goals in 20 appearances for the Green and Blacks.

Dalton and Rodon played in the same division as Rhys Griffiths’ men last campaign, whilst Luke Borrelli played in the Welsh Premier League.

Rodon, a centre-back, played a total of 23 times for County last season, scoring just the once. He also picked up two red cards.  The 25-year-old is a former Swansea City youth academy product.

After being released by the Swans, he moved to Aberystwyth Town, where he was a teammate of fellow recruit Luke Borrelli. He’s made a total of 58 appearances in the Welsh Premier League, scoring 3 goals.

Centre-back Dalton himself scored two goals for Goytre last season. He had previously played for Welsh Premier League side Barry Town United.

Adam Carpenter, Ben Symons, Billy Borge, Cullen Kinsella, Kane Owen, Kieran Howard, James Parry, Liam Walsh, Nathan Renfree, Rhys Wilson and Tyler Roche have all given their commitment to the club for the upcoming league campaign.

The trio could make their debut in their pre-season opener, at home to Division Three side Ely Rangers. After playing the Cardiff based side, they will play Penrhyncoch, Newport County and STM Sports at home. They will also make trips to Goodwick United and Paulton Rovers.

Bont, who applied for the Welsh Premier League domestic licence, finished third in the second tier last season, 18 points behind Division One champions Llanelli Town.
