New Saints striker Dean Ebbe praises team spirit as Welsh Premier League Champions almost complete remarkable comeback in Champions League qualifier against Shkendija

New Saints striker Dean Ebbe admitted the Welsh Premier League Champions gave it everything they had as they almost completed a miracle comeback in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against Shkendija.

The Welsh Champions were inspired and despite being 5-0 down, they gave it their all as they just missed out after beating the Macedonian-outfit 4-0.

Irish striker Ebbe sent them on their way scoring the first goal and he commended the rest of the team for their incredible spirit and determination in the second leg of their European clash at Park Hall.

“We are all obviously disappointed, but hopefully we can bring this type of form into the Europa League next week,” he said.

“The lads were brilliant from start to finish tonight. All we could do was give 100 percent and we did exactly that. We were just unfortunate to miss out in the end.”

“Everyone was just up for it because we were 5-0 down, so we gave it everything we had, but unfortunately we were just unlucky on the night and couldn’t turn the tie around.”

The New Saints will now play Gibraltar champions Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa League qualification phase and Ebbe believes that if they play like they did in the second leg of their game against Shkendija, they will have a fantastic chance of advancing to the next round of the Europa League.

“Obviously it is going to be a tough game, every game in Europe is going to be tough,” admitted Ebbe.

“But if we can bring into that game what we had tonight, we should win. I am just looking forward to next week’s test now. “
