RECAP: Cardiff Metropolitan University v Gloucester City – Friendly

Cardiff Metropolitan University host Vanarama National League South side Gloucester City in a pre-season friendly at Cyncoed Campus, as the two teams prepare for their upcoming league campaigns.

The Archers began pre-season 22 days ago and have since played friendlies against Taffs Well and Cinderford Town, in which they both lost.

They will host South Wales rivals Barry Town United at Cyncoed Campus on Saturday, before travelling to the Cefn Druids on August 4th. The final pre-season game will be at home to Hull City U23’s on Monday 6th August.

Gloucester City opens their league campaign next season when they play away to Concord Rangers.

The Tigers finished 14th out of 22 in the National League South last season. Marc Richards is their manager, after the departure of a long-serving member of the club, Tim Harris.

Former players of Gloucester City include Cardiff City youngster Nathaniel Jarvis, as well as Rod Thomas, Trevor Ford, Neil Slatter, Gareth Taylor and Tony Villars, who have all played for the Welsh national team.
