How former Welsh domestic stars got on in the English pyramid

With the Welsh football season underway, plenty of games have already been played. But, we check out how some of our former Welsh domestic stars got on in the English pyramid today.

Christian Doidge – Forest Green Rovers

Doidge’s season has got off to a great start this year. A brace on the opening day, and a goal to add to his collection today. It wasn’t enough though, as Bury scored in the 90th minute to take home a share of the spoils.

Connel Rawlinson – Port Vale

Life at Port Vale has been great for former TNS defender Rawlinson. Four starts in four league games, and a victory to add to his 90 minutes today, as the Vale beat Crawley 1-0.

Scott Quigley – Port Vale

Quigley’s time at the Vale has been less straightforward. The striker is on loan at the League Two outfit from Blackpool, but had to settle for a place on the bench again this weekend. But, he came on with 12 minutes left this afternoon.

Jason Oswell – Morecambe

Oswell had 18  minutes of game time yesterday as Morecambe lost 1-0 to Stevenage. The striker has had to settle for a place on the bench so far for the Shrimps, but will be hoping he can be the decisive factor to help turn things around after this narrow defeat for the League Two outfit.

Gwion Edwards – Ipswich Town

Former Aberystwyth academy product Edwards played the full 90 minutes, as Ipswich Town drew 1-1 with Sky Bet Championship favourites Aston Villa.

Tom Bradshaw – Barnsley

Bradshaw started and played the full 90 minutes as Barnsley played out a 0-0 draw with fellow League One outfit AFC Wimbledon. The former Aberystwyth player formed a front three with Mamadou Thiam and Kieffer Moore, but they couldn’t get through the Wimbledone defence.

Gary Roberts – Wigan

Former Welsh Premier League player Roberts failed to make the squad as Wigan drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

Sam Finley – Accrington Stanley

Former TNS man Sam Finley started and played the whole game as Stanley stole a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Charlton.

Andrew Mangan – Accrington Stanley

Former Bala forward Mangan  made the bench, but failed to make an appearance as Stanley picked up a point this afternoon.

Callum Sainty – Hereford

Sainty was not part of the squad as Hereford beat Chorley 1-0 this afternoon.
