Ryan Giggs announces Wales squad for Albania and Denmark fixtures

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has named his 25-man-squad for the upcoming fixtures against Albania and Denmark.

Anderlecht defender James Lawrence is a surprise call-up despite having never represented Wales at any international level.

Aaron Ramsey is included in the squad, despite having his Arsenal contract offer withdrawn. Gareth Bale is in the Wales squad, after missing the last two Wales matches.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies misses out due to suspension after picking up a yellow card against Ireland. Aston Villa defender Neil Taylor returns to the squad.

The Red Dragons will take on Denmark at the Cardiff City Stadium next Friday in their final UEFA Nations League fixture, before playing Albania at the Elbasan Arena in a friendly, three days later.

Swansea City’s Joe Rodon misses out on a call-up, but Daniel James who was a late replacement for Aaron Ramsey is included.

Despite not featuring for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United, Ben Woodburn has been included. He most recently returned to Liverpool’s U23’s side, in a bid to play competitive football.

Birthday boy Chris Mepham is included in the squad. The Brentford defender is 21-years-old today.
